At the BARC Animal Shelter in Houston, Texas, there is less and less chance of restoring an 11-month-old puppy's faith in people. Two weeks ago, Scarlett's foster parents saved the puppy's life, but they have since acknowledged that they lack the skills required to handle a dog this fearful and shut down.
Scarlet arrived at the shelter on May 10, 2023, as a stray. She weighed 45 pounds and was classified as a Labrador retriever mix. She first retreated to a shelter corner, refused rewards, and shuddered and trembled whenever someone approached her.
The dog was scheduled for execution on May 15, but a BARC foster intervened just in time to spare her.
And she's returned. It's not Scarlet's fault; she didn't realize that everyone may be kind right now. We require an experienced foster caregiver who can care for animals like Scarlett.
Please inform her situation to your social media connections, family, close friends, and respected rescue agencies. By sharing, lives can be saved.
This puppy needs so.much love and understanding. To the Shelter.Do NOT murder this baby.Kill shelters should be made illegal. No excuse

deleteTotally agree, you are suppose to be saving these poor neglected and mistreated dogs. They have been in the hands of vile, evil, scum humans so YES it will take time to trust a human again and time is what they need, NOT AN EXECUTION DATE WTF. Save these poor beautiful scared fur babies, killing them is absolutely disgusting, Karma on you if you kill this sad but loving fur bubba

deletePlease do not kill this baby please wait till the right people come along I know they are out there, she needs help
replydeleteSo wish I lived there as I’d take this pup. Needs one person to develop trust in. No other pets and definitely no unpredictable children.
replydeleteI don’t understand why they rescue trays dogs and once day still kill them then.
replydeleteSo easy to tell someone else what they should or shouldn't do or if a shelter should or shouldn't kill an animal. Much harder to do your part. These animals are a result of human problems. If we were not selfish and judgmental maybe shelters would not be overrun with unwanted neglected and damaged pets. No kill shelters quickly turn in to overcrowded animal warehouses. The suffering in a no kill shelter is nothing to brag about or encourage. Shelters must make hard decisions because you and I won't.
replydeleteDid somebody adopt the puppy?

replydeleteI hate kill shelters. Propel want puppies never realiizing that they are like children
replydeleteHow can someone get her out of there?
replydeleteWhy you need to execute a dog, if there is no foster or adopting them, you should give them a chance to live and to be love. Its not their fault if no one's coming to adopt them, because some people buying a dog outside. Hope there is someone come and adopt this gorgeous labrador mix and give him a home, care and love till his life. God bless you fur baby Labrador mix.

replydeleteWhere is this puppy? I will take the puppy. Is it in California or Texas? It just seems that is where many animals are in shelters and euthanized. I’m in PA. Can the dog be transported, even 1/2 way, or if closer I will take off work and come and get him. I will help with the poor puppy. I have another small very calm very obedient, very happy therapy dog. He has this instinct of just knowing what to do. He has laid in bed with the sick and has acted goofy the well and makes them smile and laugh. I think he could really help this little puppy. Will somebody message me. My name is Kathy Clark
replydeleteOh please go get him I want to get him too I have a goldendoodle that would show his son much love and so would I. But let just help this mad get this scared baby

replydeletePlease please save this darling little dog 🐶 if l was near you l would definitely bring him home but l live in Islington North London
replydeleteNo has talked about what fearful dogs do. They retreat (hide) and/or then go forward. (Growl, may bite). It's not thie fault! What did the foster family return this dog! Maybe he growled or bit surprisingly. most likely. They freaked out but did the worse this for this pup. I pray he's a live & a person will go get him in TX but remember, be careful, be living and be very patient. This the kind of puppy who should never be punished physically. No animal should be btw. Thank you to goes and saves him. If she's need put to sleep...we need more people to to help stop animal cruelty. Don't look away. If you see or hear something, tell the authorities about what the person did. Or just get the dog out of the place. Sometimes in tows the police are involved in dog fighting. You decide. Amen.
replydeleteThis poor puppy needs to be around other dogs that have a loving family to help bring her out of her shock. My dog was a rescue he did not like men at all when we brought him home. He was adopted and returned several times before we adopted him. Could not ask for a nicer dog. These dogs can be very good dogs if they are allowed the time to decompress and be a dog. Yes, sit boundaries but be gentle. it takes at least three months to decompress it can take up to 2 years to totally have faith in humans again. God bless this poor pup.
